Eight executed in their beds in four separate homes

Over the course of the evening/night of April 21–22, 2021, someone entered four separate homes in Pike County, Ohio, and shot eight members of the Rhoden family. Later in the day on April 22, seven of the victims were discovered in three of the homes. An eighth adult victim was found in his camper in nearby Pinkerton. In addition to the deceased, there were three young children left alive in the homes.

The bodies were discovered when Bobby Jo Manley, the sister of one of the victims, came to feed pets at the homes just before 8 a.m. Arriving at the first home, Manley discovered two bodies and called 911. While the police were still in route, she discovered two more bodies at a second home on the property.

When her brother, James Manley, went to check on their other sister, he discovered the third crime scene with three more victims. By 1:26 p.m., police had received another 911 call about an eighth victim who had been discovered at the fourth residence in nearby Piketon. In all, there were seven adults and a 16-year-old found murdered.
