Twenty years ago today, 31-year-old Dr. Sneha Anne Philip disappeared from New York City. Given the events of that day, her family believed her to be among the listed victims who perished in the terrorist attack on the twin towers, but since then, there have been questions as to whether she was ever there at all. At one point, her name was removed from the list, and then it was put back on it. Even her official date of death has changed.

So, what is the truth behind how she vanished?

It depends on who you ask.

According to her family, she was a hero who met her end helping others when the towers collapsed.

According to police, she was a troubled woman who may have met with foul play due to dangerous habits.

After Sneha’s disappearance, two investigations were launched. The first one was at the behest of her husband, Ron Lieberman. He hired private investigator Ken Gallant, a former FBI agent, to look for her after police indicated that they had their hands full with other priorities in the wake of 9/11.
